Wavey: AR Sound Visualizer - Privacy Policy

No data collected. No accounts. No third-party services.

Overview

Wavey: AR Sound Visualizer does not collect, store, use, sell, or share personal information — from you or from anyone else who uses the app.

Wavey uses Apple's ARKit, SceneKit, Vision, and Speech frameworks, along with on-device audio analysis, to turn microphone input into real-time augmented reality visuals, estimate the direction a sound is coming from, classify sound types (such as speech, sirens, or alarms) to shape the visuals, and generate live on-screen captions of speech. All camera, microphone, and speech processing happens locally on your device. Nothing is recorded, saved, uploaded, or transmitted anywhere.

Camera Access

Wavey uses your device's camera, together with ARKit and SceneKit, to place sound-reactive visuals in your environment. Camera input is processed locally on your device for the sole purpose of rendering the AR experience in real time.

Wavey does not record, save, upload, transmit, or share camera footage or images.

Microphone Access

Wavey uses your device's microphone to detect sound, analyze it, estimate where it's coming from, and classify what kind of sound it is (for example, speech, a siren, or an alarm), all of which shapes the app's sound-reactive visuals.

Audio input is analyzed locally on your device in real time. Wavey does not record, save, upload, transmit, or share your microphone audio.

Speech Recognition

Wavey uses Apple's Speech framework, configured to run recognition entirely on-device, to generate live captions of speech as part of its visual effects. Because on-device recognition is enforced, audio and transcribed text are never sent to Apple's servers or to any other external service.

Transcribed text is displayed on screen in real time as part of the visual experience and is not saved, logged, or transmitted anywhere. It exists only in memory for as long as it takes to display it, and is discarded immediately after.

Data Collection

Wavey does not collect:

No user account or sign-in is required to use the app.

Data Storage

Wavey does not store camera footage, photographs, microphone audio, sound recordings, speech transcripts, or other personal information — on your device, on our servers, or anywhere else.

Camera, microphone, and speech input is processed only in memory, in real time, while the app is actively in use, and is discarded immediately after. Nothing is written to disk or retained after that session.

Third-Party Services

Wavey does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, crash-reporting, or data collection services of any kind. Wavey relies only on frameworks built into iOS (ARKit, SceneKit, Vision, and Speech) that run entirely on your device. Speech recognition is explicitly configured for on-device-only processing, so no audio or text is ever sent to Apple's speech recognition servers or any other external service.

Children's Privacy

Wavey does not collect personal information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect personal information at all.

Your Permissions

Camera, microphone, and speech recognition access are controlled through your device's operating system. You may grant or revoke these permissions at any time through your device settings. Wavey's visual effects require camera, microphone, and speech recognition access to function, since all processing happens live and locally rather than from stored data.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

If this Privacy Policy is updated, the revised version will be published on this page with an updated date.
